DESCRIPTION:Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra \n\nAs part of the official cultural celebrations of Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union\, the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission is proud to support a flagship concert by the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall\, one of London’s most distinguished concert venues. \n\n\n\nThis major musical event brings together artistic excellence\, symbolic resonance\, and a strong Cypriot presence in a programme dedicated to the timeless music of Ludwig van Beethoven. The evening continues with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor\, “Choral”\, Op. 125\, culminating in the Ode to Joy\, the official anthem of Europe. \n\n\n\nUnder the baton of renowned Cypriot maestro Dr Marios Papadopoulos\, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra is joined by the Crouch End Festival Chorus and an outstanding quartet of Cypriot vocal soloists: \n\n\n\nZoe Nicolaidou\, soprano \n\n\n\nShakira Tsindos\, mezzo-soprano \n\n\n\nSotiris Charalampous\, tenor \n\n\n\nYiorgo Ioannou\, baritone \n\n\n\nAdding even greater distinction to the occasion\, the Orchestra will be led by Rainer Küchl\, former Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic\, appearing as Guest Concertmaster. \n\n\n\nThis landmark concert places Cyprus at the heart of Europe’s cultural dialogue\, celebrating its Presidency through music of extraordinary emotional and symbolic power.
