Discover her passion\, inspirations and pride in representing Cyprus.Antigoni will also be exclusively performing her repertoire of songs\, including Jalla at our Friday night taverna!Seated tickets must be booked and paid in advance (places are limited and will only be confirmed on receipt of funds and on a first-come-first-served basis). Tickets cost £30 per person and include a reserved seat\, pork\, chicken or vegetarian souvlaki and a soft drink or water. Other drinks will also be on sale on the night. SUMMARY:Symphonic Concert – Official Celebrations of Cyprus’ EU Presidency 2026
DESCRIPTION:As part of the official celebrations marking Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union (2026)\, the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in London presents a distinguished symphonic concert in collaboration with the Orchestra of the City. \n\n\nUnder the baton of Chris Hopkins\, the concert places contemporary Cypriot creation at the heart of a programme that bridges history\, memory\, and the great European symphonic tradition. \n\n\nThe evening features two works by contemporary Cypriot composer Giorgos Karvellos:Khirokitia\, a symphonic poem inspired by the prehistoric settlement of Choirokoitia — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and Levant: Little Suite for Orchestra\, a work reflecting the cultural resonances and musical landscapes of the Eastern Mediterranean. \n\n\nAt the centre of the programme\, acclaimed Cypriot violinist Victoria Mavromoustaki performs Mendelssohn’s radiant Violin Concerto\, one of the most beloved works of the Romantic repertoire. \n\n\nThe concert concludes with Rachmaninoff’s powerful Symphony No. 1\, bringing the evening to a dramatic and emotionally charged close. \n\n\nThis concert forms part of the official cultural programme of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union\, celebrating Cyprus’s contemporary artistic voice while reaffirming culture as a space for dialogue\, connection\, and shared European identity. \n\n\nFind out more at the Orchestra of the City website: https://www.orchestraofthecity.com/
