Born in Nicosia in 1937 and educated in the United Kingdom, Haris Sophoclides holds degrees in Civil Engineering and Management.

His involvement in Cypriot diaspora affairs was extensive and served as President of POMAK from 1997-2013 and the Greek Cypriot Brotherhood. After his time as President of the Federation came to an end, Haris was made Honorary President in recognition of his contribution to the organisation and the UK Cypriot community.

Haris’ professional career was in the construction industry in and he joined the Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P) Group in 1963. After a successful business career abroad, he returned to the UK and became Managing Director of J&P (UK) Ltd. He was married to Diana, who passed away in December 2007 and now lives in Cyprus.
