On 24th February, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus met with the Mayor of Morphou, Victor Hadjiavraam, at the Houses of Parliament. Members of the Cyprus APPG were also joined by a delegation of Morphou Municipality Councillors.

APPG members and Mayor Hadjiavraam exchanged views on recent efforts to restart talks for a solution to the Cyprus, in line with international law. This included recent developments within the UN-led process and framework.

Mayor Hadjiavraam also spoke about the more than 60,000 refugees from Morphou. This involved a wide ranging discussion on the commitment and aim of Cypriot refugees to return to their towns and villages that are under occupation.

The APPG was represented at the meeting by its Chair Bambos Charalambous MP and Honorary President Sir Roger Gale MP as well as Martin Vickers MP, Fabian Hamilton MP and Baroness Rosie Winterton.
