The Federation President Christos Karaolis, Treasurer Bambos Charalambous, as well as
Executive Secretary Andreas Karaolis, and Assistant Executive Secretaries George Alexandrou
and Elisavet Parpi, delivered a resolution to the Prime Minister at Downing Street.
In the letter to the Prime Minister, Federation President Christos Karaolis emphasises the
injustice of the illegal invasion and on-going occupation of Cyprus. These, Mr Karaolis wrote
‘can never be the basis for a ‘UDI’ and it is for this reason that, rightly, the illegal occupation
regime has remained unrecognised by every nation, with the exception of Turkey, for forty years.’
That is why, he continues, in a time of war in both Europe and the Middle East, peace in Cyprus
is “necessary step forward to return to a rules-based order in both regions.” In closing, he adds,
as an ally and guarantor of Cyprus, the UK should “encourage Turkey’s return to the negotiating
table for a feasible solution that ensures shared peace and prosperity.
