On Tuesday 14 May 2024, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Cyprus hosted a meeting with the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in the UK, Kyriacos Kouros. The High Commissioner briefed MPs on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue as well as Cyprus’ role in the wider Eastern Mediterranean. These included the recent appointment of María Angela Holguín Cuéllar as the UNSG’s Envoy on Cyprus and also Cyprus’ Amalthea initiative, which is forming a maritime corridor to Gaza for the shipping of humanitarian aid.
The meeting was attended by APPG for Cyprus Chair Caroline Nokes MP, Honorary Chair Sir Roger Gale MP, Vice-Chair Theresa Villiers MP, members Matthew Offord MP, Catherine West MP, Chris Clarkson MP and Martin Vickers MP as well as Mark Jenkinson MP and APPG Secretariat Christos Karaolis.
