The Service for Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots, in collaboration with educational institutions in Cyprus, has secured a number of scholarships for young people and adults of Cypriot descent living abroad. The scholarships cover undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as Greek language learning programmes, provided either through physical attendance at the universities or through distance learning, where available.
The initiative aims to enhance access for expatriate Cypriots to higher education institutions in the Republic of Cyprus, provide meaningful opportunities for them to reconnect with the State, preserve their connection with their roots, language, and culture, and support their personal and professional development regardless of place of residence.

The School of Modern Greek aims to provide Greek language courses to non-native speakers of Greek, expatriates and foreigners, who wish to learn Greek or perfect their knowledge of Greek. In addition to language courses, the curricula include courses in culture, which give students the opportunity to come into contact with the Greek civilisation and the wider contemporary Greek-speaking world. The School provides the Greek Proficiency Certification Exams for Levels A1, A2, B1, Β2, C1, and C2.
Students interested in studying in one of UCY’s undergraduate programmes of study taught in Greek have the opportunity to do a foundation course at the School of Modern Greek, before embarking on their studies.
NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Programme (NDCP)
Every summer, in July, UCY hosts the NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Programme, a transformative 3-week experience that connects young Cypriots from across the world with their language, heritage, culture, and the beauty of Cyprus. The programme involves a 3-week study at UCY’s School of Modern Greek (with accommodation at the UCY Dormitory). Participants from the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, and South Africa participate in an intensive Greek language course and attend culture, dance, and history workshops. A series of excursions to museums, monasteries, and the Green Line are also organised.
UCY is the biggest employer in Cyprus for young graduates and researchers, currently employing about 740 young scientists. There are numerous opportunities for employment within the UCY research units, while doing a PhD degree.
UCY has been participating in the Erasmus+ Programme since 1997/98. Through the Programme, students have the opportunity to either do Mobility for Studies in partner institutions either in the EU countries or in countries outside the EU, or Mobility of Traineeships in European institutions/organisations (for students and new graduates).

CYPRUS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (CUT)
Overview
The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is a public university based in Limassol that was established by law in 2004 and welcomed its first undergraduate students in September 2007. Since September 2023, it has also had facilities in the city of Paphos, in which undergraduate programmes are offered by one of its seven Faculties. In addition to undergraduate programmes, all the university Departments now offer a significant number of Master’s and doctoral programmes. With the integration of the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus (AXIK) into CUT under the Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Professions of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, vocational training programmes leading to a Higher Diploma are also offered. Further to academic excellence, CUT places particular emphasis on the student experience (sports, student clubs, student life, etc.) and the comprehensive support of its students (housing, financial aid, scholarships, etc.).

OPEN UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS (OUC)
Overview
The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) is a modern public higher education institution and the second university to be established in the Republic of Cyprus. It offers high-level studies with flexible learning options, allowing students to organise their time and pace according to their needs.
The educational process at the OUC is based on a modern electronic learning platform, on which students have access to digital educational material, online courses, synchronous and asynchronous meetings, virtual classrooms, and ongoing guidance from experienced instructors. The CYPRUS INSTITUTE (CyI)
Overview
The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a leading non-profit research and education organisation with a strong scientific and technological focus. It was established with the aim of serving as a Centre of Excellence in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) region, addressing issues of regional interest and global significance. The Graduate School of the CyI was established in 2010, constituting the educational section of the Institute. The School’s goal is to maintain a small number of high-calibre students who are fully integrated into the Institute’s research activities. This offers students the opportunity to become members of the Institute’s research teams, acquire practical education and training using the latest methods and techniques, have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, and conduct research with internationally recognised research teams.

Through these initiatives, the CyI strengthens the ties of the Diaspora with their homeland, promoting Cyprus as an international centre of knowledge, innovation, and scientific excellence.

- Interested expatriates have to obtain a certificate from the relevant federation of overseas Cypriots in their place of residence, the embassy of the country in which they live, or NEPOMAK (young people up to 30 years of age who are not members of NEPOMAK can register – see relevant link above).
- Each interested party who submits an application will authorise the university through a relevant form held by NEPOMAK – to inform the Service for Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots about their application, admission, and progress of studies for as long as the scholarship is valid. NEPOMAK will, in turn, inform the Service for Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots.
- It is made clear that the submission of applications and the awarding of scholarships to interested parties are internal procedures of the respective university and are governed by the criteria it has established. The Service for Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots has no role or involvement in the entire process.
