Thousands of individuals sent emails to their local MPs as part of the Federation’s #HandsOffCyprus 2026 campaign. Since the campaign’s launch in June, 450 MPs across the UK have received emails from their constituents about Cyprus, from Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey in Scotland to Camborne and Redruth in Cornwall. This represents more than 69% of all seats in the UK Parliament.
This year’s campaign message was clear. Cyprus, sitting aside Europe and the Middle East, has been threatened by regional conflicts and tension. The UK, as a Guarantor Power of the Republic of Cyprus, must do everything to bring peace and security to the island. Most importantly, this means ending Turkey’s illegal on-going occupation of Cyprus.
These emails helped lead to more than 27 Ministers, Shadow Ministers and Peers joining us at the Cyprus Parliamentary Meeting and Reception.
Federation President Christos Karaolis said that “Every year, it is a great source of pride for us that the our community demonstrates its continued commitment to ending the illegal Turkish occupation of Cyprus through our #HandsOffCyprus campaign. Every one of us has a critical role to play to ensure that the Cyprus issue remains on the parliamentary agenda, by engaging with our elected representatives. So, thank you to everyone who has made this year’s campaign a success.”
